About

Amanda Kind

Chief Vocal Officer

Most companies have CEOs, but Vocal Versatility has a CVO – a Chief Vocal Officer. I’m Amanda Kind, and I’m all about empowering voices to do whatever they want to do – to be versatile – so it seems only fitting to put that word front and centre. I’m a singer, songwriter, teacher, marketer, and life-long learner who loves waking up everyday and working in the music industry. When I’m not teaching, I’m writing, recording, performing, networking, marketing, and going to shows. For more about my artist career, visit www.amandakind.com.

Teaching Philosophy

My goal is to help artists at all stages of development cultivate their unique voice with vocal health, sustainable technique, growth mindset, and flexible creativity at the forefront so they can unleash their vocal versatility.

Growth Mindset

I don’t know everything. I admire leaders who are continually learning. I am a better teacher today than I was yesterday. I’ll be even better tomorrow. I am a big fan of Growth Mindset – it inspires my teaching practice as I help students cultivate confidence, build effective practice, rehearsal, warm up, and performance habits, and work toward their goals. We’re on a learning journey together.

You Are A Human First

Singing is a mind-body experience. Emotions are intrinsically intertwined with creating. Our personal connection to the lyrics and melody changes the way we sing – it influences every vocal choice we make. I believe singers are human beings first. I approach teaching from an empathetic and nurturing point of view. How you’re feeling and your sense of safety in the learning environment are really important to me. I believe in student-centric learning and trauma-informed pedagogy. We do our best work when we feel empowered to be brave, and bravery requires vulnerability.

Unleash Your Vocal Versatility

People are unique, complex, and layered, and so are their voices. My training philosophy focuses on efficiency, freedom, and flexibility. My work aims to unlock voices and minds so that singers explore many colours and styles in their voices. I work with clients in many genres from pop, rock, and country to musical theatre, jazz, Christian contemporary, and more.
